Welcome! I'm Dilum Bandara
Researcher, Educator, and Consultant
My research and practice sit at the intersection of blockchain, cloud, and secure distributed systems, shaped by over 20 years in R&D, teaching, and consultancy. I focus on tackling complex, real-world challenges, delivering impact through large-scale system assurance, standardisation, and the development of people and ideas.
I'm a Principal Research Scientist at CSIRO's Technology, Australia, and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, UNSW, Sydney.
My research interests include Distributed Systems (Blockchain, Cloud, and P2P), Computer Security, Software Architecture, Data Engineering, and IoT. I am particularly interested in the multi-disciplinary applications of those technologies in supply chains, digital finance, ESG, fleet management, and weather monitoring.
I am starting to expand my technology focus to emerging ones like agentic identity and access management, fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), zero-knowledge proof (ZKP), multi-party computation (MPC), verifiable credentials (VCs), and decentralized identifiers (DID), particularly to enhance trust in software systems.
Get in touch if you'd like to be part of innovative projects in my areas of expertise, or to explore how these technologies can be applied to real-world problems.
